The name “Peppernuts” is derived from the German
Pfeffernuesse.
These spicy little biscuits hearken back to what Germans call
the “oma zeit”, or grandmother’s time – a true old-country
treat. They are believed to have come to America with
immigrants sometime in the 19th century. Traditionally
baked and served during the Christmas season, some
recipes do call for small amounts of pepper and ground
almonds or walnuts, hence the name Peppernuts. While
Grandma Rubin’s recipe has neither, what we lack in pepper
and nuts, we more than make up for in rich ginger goodness
and a delectable taste sensation.
Peppernuts are 100% guaranteed. If you have any problems at all, please let us know and we will make it right.

Today, there are a number of recipes and varieties of Peppernuts. Of course, we prefer
Grandma Rubin’s original recipe - but then again, we may be partial. So slow down, relax,
and let the taste and aroma of Peppernuts transport you back to a simpler time and
place...and enjoy the trip! Here's to the sweet times of yesteryear, to celebrating the
here and now, and to new memories together.
